On August 11th evening, more than 30 Americans and Turkish attended to private Iftar Dinner event organized by Turkish Cultural Center New Hampshire at the Best Western Executive Court Hotel. The most prominent names among the attendees at the dinner were, New Hampshire State Representative George Lambert and his spouse Rhonda Lambert, who visited Turkey last month within Cultural Engagement Program, which was organized by Turkish Cultural Center New Hampshire. The event commenced with a video that depicted the importance of Month of Ramadan and fasting. The fast was broken with the Azan presentation (call for the prayer and breaking fast), which played with English subtitles, afterwards. Before the dinner, local families of New Hampshire found the opportunity to talk about the importance of such events and conveyed their appreciation to Turkish Cultural Center, which aimed to unite Turkish people in the United States with such sort of programs. Ismail Kahya, one of the members of Turkish-American Community in Manchester city, New Hampshire said: ‘The beautiful activities like this have started a while ago and it is taking slow but confident steps towards its purpose. As a Turkish Community living her, not only we should give a hand to be a part of these beautiful events but also we should tray to voice these attractions to more Americans.’ Near the end of the dinner, Representative Lambert said his words. He described the importance of the events of these kinds as noteworthy for Americans to understand the Turkish people and Muslims better. He also noted that his trip to Turkey was helpful in terms of breaking down his prejudices. He also said that, besides the Turkish hospitality, Turkey couldn’t be underestimated due toits ranking as one of the fast growing economies in the world.
